The Hot Start-Ups At Cannes Lions

Am I start writing this I just want to point out in front of me is the Cindy Gallup so please excuse any typos.


For the last couple of years Start-Up have been the hot trendy topic to talk about, work with, or create for advertising people around the world.

This year I’m lucky enough to be helping out mentoring the Cannes Lions Start -up Academy, sponsored by R/GA. Essentially for four days, 10 lucky start-ups from around the world get daily workshops and inspirational sessions with speakers drawn directly from the Festival stages.

The programme culminates in an invitation-only demo event with an exclusive audience of media, agency executives, chief executives, innovation and marketing officers from some of the world’s biggest brands.

This year’s list of start-up is pretty diverse, there are startups dealing with AI, Chat bots, Social networks, Creative freelancing, tourism, VR and more.

Below is a short description of some of my favorite ones so far.

Mush: An app that is free to use and lets mums find local, like minded mums.

Wanderbrief: A global community where people can exchange their creative skills for meaningful work-life experiences abroad.

Twyla: An artificial intelligence messaging platform creating smart chatbots for live chat channels.

Journy – An app where for only $15 a day people can get tailor-made travel plans with recommendations from top chefs, sommeliers, and local experts.

StriVR – A very smart team of VR experts and storytellers that work with brands and sports organizations creating custom 360 experiences.
